STORE NEWS
Sales of Songosongo (Pachypodium ambongenseSeedings Resumed. Limited quantities of rooted cuttings and seedlings of this very rare plant may now be ordered by domestic customers from this store. The seedlings are from the first seeds produced in Hawai`i. The plants may be shipped to all states except California. We may be applying for approval to export this species to international customers.
Bambara Groundnut (Seeds Back in Stock. We experienced a sudden and great increase in orders for these seeds in late 2025and our entire inventory sold out. This apparently followed the release of a widely viewed video about this highly nutritious legume, considered a lost crop of Africa. We placed orders for additional seeds with our main supplier in Ghana and domestic suppliers. Most of these seeds were received, processed and became available for sale in mid February of 2026.
Wholesale Fruit Trees and Perennial Food Plants. We are now producing a wide assortment of these and selling them wholesale for local sale at retail outlets on Hawai`i island. These include but are not limited to seed and cutting grown dragon fruit plants; a wide assortment of moringa seedlings of various species, varieties and origins; soursop, mountain apple, calamansi (Philippine lime), white sapote and other fruit trees; Okinawan spinach; red roselle hibiscus; cranberry hibiscus; Cuban oregano; basils and others. New Products
Camelina sativa Seeds. There is rapidly increasing interest in growing camelina in Hawai`i as an oil seed crop for production of biodiesel and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). To meet the needs of researchers and farmers for small amounts of a wide array of seeds of various origins and varieties we are developing a camelina seed bank. In March 2025 we acquired and began sales of seeds from suppliers in Canada, Minnesota and the Pacific Northwest. We are also trying to acquire seeds from field trials in Hawai`i and will post updated information here if they become available.
Nitrogen Fixing, Non-GMO Corn Seeds. Following a BBC program and news articles there has been unprecedented demand for these seeds, which were scarce and costly. We are now offering an expanded inventory of Hawaiian grown seeds from the 2025 harvest at a research partner’s farm in Hilo. Previously we could only offer small amounts of seeds from Hawai`i and various landraces originating from southern Mexico. Because corn wilt disease is present in Mexico, the seeds from there could not be shipped to the European Union and some other countries. These restrictions may not apply to the seeds grown in Hawai`i, which is free of the wilt disease.
