We Offer the World’s Largest Selection of Hoodia Seeds and the Only Improved Cultivars!

Our ongoing research and plant breeding activities have produced the only known improved cultivars of five species of Hoodia.  They all have enhanced resistance to bacterial rot, are adapted to growing in artificial cultivation and meeting the rigorous organic production requirements of the national Certified Naturally Grown program.

Seeds Available.  We are currently offering mixtures of seed lots of each or these species:  Hoodia gordonii, H. juttae, H. ruschii and H.  parviflora and our unique Hoodia gordonii tetraploid cultivars.  Some seeds from specific seed lots and cultivars are also available. All of our seeds are non-GMO, Hawaiian grown and meet the standards of the Hawaii Seal of Quality. Seeds of Hoodiopsis triebneri are not currently available.

Organic Status.  Seeds from plants started after we achieved organic certification in 2019 are now available as a new line of Certified Naturally Grown (CNG) seeds.  These are the only organic hoodia seeds available anywhere.

Expanded Selection of Seeds from Specific Cultivars and Seed Lots.  We have seeds from about 500 different pods, each the product of an open pollination of a known seed producing plant and assigned a specific lot number. Some of these seed lots will be from our named improved cultivars or plants having specific floral characteristics of interest to collectors and hobbyists.

HOW TO PURCHASE OUR SEEDS

Our hoodia seeds are sold though our ONLINE STORE.  If you have any questions about these seeds please CONTACT US.

SHIPMENT OF SEEDS

Hoodia seeds are much easier to ship than live plants and can go to locations where we are not permitted to ship plants such as California.  Most of our seeds are shipped by First Class domestic or international mail.

Processing and Packaging.  When an order for seeds is received they are taken from our storage freezers, thawed and packaged in small plastic bags containing a packet of silica gel to maintain dryness.  If you are not planting them right away keep them in their original packaging with the silica gel.  Keep them in a cool, dry place.  For prolonged storage place them in a refrigerator.  We do not recommend refreezing the seeds.

Domestic Shipping.  We can ship hoodia seeds to all U.S. states and territories.  All shipments of seeds to destinations outside Hawai`i island must be inspected by the Hawai`i Department of Agriculture at their stations in Hilo or Kailua-Kona, Hawai`i before mailing.  We travel to these distant stations for inspections about every two weeks.  There is no charge to our customers for these inspections.

International Shipping.  Please CONTACT US  first before placing any international orders for hoodia seeds.  Our seeds can be exported internationally to most countries but such shipments are highly regulated and require extensive paperwork.   Since hoodia and of its hybrids are listed on Appendix II of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Flora and Fauna (CITES), all export shipments to international destinations must have a Phytosanitary Certificate issued by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and a U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) Single Use Permit issued under the terms of our master FWS permit #PER0054775, Version I.  The USDA and FWS document fees of $61.00 and $10.00 respectively must be paid when the order is placed with us. We will then apply for the required export documents.

The logistics of obtaining the required documents, inspections and clearances for shipments of the CITES regulated seeds from Hawai`i island are difficult and the process may take 2-3 months.  For these reasons we have established a minimum order of $200.00 for international shipments of Hoodia and Hoodiopsis seeds.
