Moringa peregrina (MP) - Arabian Moringa Seeds

Wild populations of this species are declining and seeds are becoming very scarce and difficult to obtain.  They are also in great demand for research and for potential development as an alternative crop in drought stricken areas.

We have lost contact with our last direct supplier in Saudi Arabia and our inventory of seeds from there is now depleted.  Attempts are being made to obtain more seeds from the Middle East where this species is endemic.

To develop an alternate domestic supply we are attempting to grow the trees here in Hawai`i.  They do not grow in our area of Hawai`i island but trees produed from our Saudi Arabian seeds are doing very well at a farm site on Moloka`i operated by a volunteer farmer.

Limited supplies of seeds from the Moloka`i source are available for sale here.  Seedlings from our germination testing are also occasionally available.

2023 Update:

We have been able to grow several trees from the Molokai seeds on our Hawai`i island site.  Unlike the seedlings from Saudi Arabian seeds, they are growing well.  However, their leaves do not have the needle-like form typical of the pure species.  This suggests that they may be intraspecific hybrids. Trees of other Moringa species - M. oleifera and M. stenopetala are also grown on the Molokai farm and could have crossed with the M. peregrina.
