Seeds of Specific Lot Numbers and Cultivars

Here we list seeds from specific lot numbers and named cultivars of Hoodia parvilfora.

This section of our store is under construction and will be improved as time permits.

Species Identification. The intent of our plant breeding program has been to produce new cultivars with improved resistance to disease and cultural characteristics for production of edible organic cuttings and nutraceutical products.  Maintaining the purity of species and floral characteristics was not intended.  Our plants are the products of open pollination and putative intraspecific hybrids.

Cultivar Naming. Earlier in our research program we attempted to select the most improved cultivars of each species and apply cultivar names to them.  With the large number of potential candidates, similarities in performance and our inability to maintain pure lines of plants this practice became infeasible and was largely discontinued.

Photos. As of November 2022 we had an inventory of nearly 600 lots of hoodia seeds, each with records of the seed bearing plants over the generations before the seed lot was produced.  We did not grow plants from most of these lots, and only a small percentage of those grown reached maturity so flower photos are not available. If you are interested in seeds from these other lots please contact us.

Flower Variation. The number, size, color and shape of flowers from seeds in each lot, and even on the same plant is often variable.

Organic Status. We produce our hoodia as an organic crop.  Seeds with lot numbers higher than SL312 were produced from plants grown after our facility and was inspected and formally certified by the Certified Naturally Grown (CNG) program.  Their growing requirements for certification are essentially the same as those of the National Organic Program, which is the basis for USDA Certified Organic status.

Licensing. All of our seeds are offered for personal, noncommercial use.  Buyers and other recipients of these seeds are subject to our Hawaiian Hoodia™ License Agreement found HERE.

Hoodia parviflora hybrid, Lot #225, 100 mg Packet

Hoodia parviflora hybrid, Lot #225, 100 mg Packet

This is very likely to be an intraspecific hybrid.  The seeds in this lot #HGPPXX-SL225 are from the same seed producing plant that produced lot #HGPARX-SL291.  The flower in the photo is from lot # HGPARX-SL291. There are about 20 hoodia seeds in our 100 milligram seed packets.

Hoodia parviflora Cultivar "Marvelle", Lot #109, 10 seeds

Hoodia parviflora Cultivar "Marvelle", Lot #109, 10 seeds

These are seeds from the cultivar named "Marvelle" pictured on our home page for Hoodia Research.  Supplies are limited. The flowers of the seed producing plant, and the plant differ significantly from the wild type of this species.  This is very likely to be an intraspecific hybrid.
