The plants that produced these seeds were grown at our Discovery Harbour, Hawai`i facility from seeds originating from southern Mexico. The seeds offered here may be from the first nitrogen fixing corn plants grown in Hawai`i.
Most of the kernels in the first seed lot are dark pink to purple. The seeds have an average weight of 0.47 grams.
New plants were planted from the seeds from southern Mexico and they grew vigorously in 2023 with no observabale evidence of wilt. Limited quantities of seeds of a blue-black color from these plants are now available.
If you are purchasing nitrogen fixing corn seeds of Hawaiian origin we suggest also purchasing some seeds from the lots of Mexican origin for comparative purposes.
