These seeds were grown on Hawai`i island at our Discovery Harbour facility and are the products of open pollination. The germination rate for these is typically greater than 95%. The average weight of one seed is about 0.06g.
In 2024 a very small amount of these seeds was produced from an experiment and will be offered for sale. We have supplied seedlings to another grower on the island and larger amounts of seeds may be produced by them.
Restrictions on Export Shipments. Please contact us before placing orders for delivery of these seeds outside the United States so that we can determine the requirements of the importing country and if the items ordered can be shipped there.
The EU and some other countries require all incoming shipments of corn seeds to be from an area known to be free from the corn wilt disease caused by the bacterium Pantoea stewartii subsp. stewartii or the seeds must be tested and found to be free of this agent. Since this disease is not known to be present in Hawai`i these seeds may be subject to fewer origin based restrictions. We do not have the capability to test these seeds so they may not be shipped to countries requiring laboratory testing.
Because of concerns about potential invasiveness some countries may have additional restrictions on imports of teosinte seeds that to not apply to other varieties of corn.
